Artist's Description
The American Shoal Lighthouse went into service in 1880. The 109-foot light is located approximately 8 miles off of Sugarloaf Key in the Florida Keys. It was manned continuously from 1880 to 1963. After that time an automated light was installed which remained until 2015 when the lighthouse was deactivated for good.
I took this shot from my boat as the setting sun lit up the sky.
